Since 1990, the number of mobile homes in South Carolina has increased by 50.7 percent. On the national level, mobile homes made up 7.6 percent of all housing units in 2000. In South Carolina, mobile homes made up 20.3 percent of all housing units, making it the only state where mobile homes made up over 20 percent of the total housing inventory.
Clarendon County had the highest proportion of mobile homes in the state in 2000 with 39.1 percent. Richland County, at 6.6 percent, had the lowest percentage of mobile homes.
