South Carolina Educational Attainment by Age: 2000

The population 65 years and over typically has a lower level of educational attainment than the baby boomer or young adult populations. 15.5 percent of the population 65 and older in South Carolina had at least a Bachelor's Degree in 2000, compared with 21.2 percent of the 45 to 64 year-old population and 21.1 percent of the 35 to 44 year-old population.

42.3 percent of the population 65 and up in South Carolina had less than a high school education in 2000, compared with 22.6 percent of the 45 to 64 year-old population and 17.0 percent of the 35 to 44 year-old population.
