People in South Carolina with a disability are more likely to be unemployed than people without a disability. In 2000 in South Carolina, 45.0 percent of the disabled population ages 16 to 64 were unemployed, compared with 27.0 percent of the non-disabled population. Nationally the figures were very similar, with 44.1 percent of the disabled population and 26.6 percent of the non-disabled population being unemployed.
